Come be a part of the energy that is building in the center of Memphis.
Originally a suburban community
on the rail line between Memphis and Raleigh, Binghamton was chartered in 1895 and soon had a post office and town government
complete with a city hall and jail. Built across the street from a boxcar manufacturer, Broad Avenue became
the life blood of the city. The neighborhood
was annexed in 1919 by Memphis. At one time, Broad Avenue boasted three grocery stores, three dry
goods stores, three doctors, a dentist, a lawyer's office, shoe repair shop, several restaurants and a barber shop along
with other businesses catering to the neighborhood.
Today it is home to a burgeoning arts district
that includes art galleries (including custom framing business), numerous artist studios, and various related businesses.
Broad Avenue is 15 minutes from anywhere in the city. Plus it's home to the best pizza and hamburgers
in town at Broadway Pizza, according to Michael Donahue of The Commercial Appeal. Also calling Broad Avenue home
are The Cove - the hippest bar according to the NY Times - and Three Angels Diner - a place to find comfort at lunch,
dinner and late night dining.
